This Juniperberry essential oil has a clean, fresh, woody top note with sweet balsamic undertones and originates from Macedonia. Juniper is a shrub/small tree which grows wild throughout central Europe. The berries take about three years to mature and this oil is made from distilling crushed and partly dried berries. Juniper berries themselves are best known for making Gin, however the essential oil is better known for its diuretic and lymphatic decongestant and detoxifying properties - so is excellent for any water retention, swelling and clearing out of any toxins in the system.
Its one of the best oils for treating cystitis and cellulite. Its also good for treating flatulence, colic, intestinal worms,any gastrointestinal infections and indigestion. Juniperberry is recommended for nervous and intellectual fatigue (its cleansing to the mind and spirit). Finally the oil can be very effective in treating chronic cystitis, and rheumatic pain in the joints or muscles and its great for improving circulation. Juniper is one of the key ingredients in our After Sport blend.
The energetic qualities of Juniper are warming and stimulating Yang energy. Its warming and invigorating effect benefits tiredness, poor circulation, cold hands and feet and lower backache.

SAFETY INFORMATION: Juniper has been reported to be non toxic, non irritant and non sensitising. Because of its high pinene content, care should be taken to store in a dark place and seal properly as it will cause skin sensitisation if oxidised. It has been contra-indicated in pregnancy although Tisserand and Balacs stated that there is a good chance the Juniper oil may have been confused with Savin*. Page 315. (Tisserand R. Balacs T.
